Paphos Zingers choir

Cathy McGregor

I joined the Paphos Zingers in 2010 after looking for quite a while for a singing group to join that met in the evenings as I was working every day at that time.

I was missing my favourite hobby very much as I had been a member of a Champion Ladies Barbershop*Chorus, Surrey Harmony for over 16 years. The chorus are members of Sweet Adelines International, which began in America and over the years we won several regional competitions and subsequently visited lots of American cities for International competition. My favourite cities include: New Orleans (music everywhere you go – 24/7, Los Vegas and also took the time to visit Graceland as I am an Elvis fan. The American choruses were ‘awesome’ (as they say) but the experience of competing amongst them was absolutely fantastic and never to be forgotten.

Being a member of the Zingers’ family in the Alto section has given me the ‘fix’ that I was missing of not only singing but performing too and I cannot imagine life without that. Long may the Zingers and my voice continue.

Barbershop singing is 4-part harmony acapella style. When those chords lock and ring, the feeling is AWESOME!
