Chris Higgins, MD for KBE, invited me to join a choir he was about to start, so, on my return from the UK that summer, I was delighted to find it had started up and in my village, Mesoyi! Ever since I have been a fully committed member of the group.
I began my musical background in the Theatre in 1976 appearing in Oh! What a Lovely War and went on to play the leading lady in shows such as Gypsy, Mame, Anything Goes, Annie, Oklahoma to name just a few but my favourite roles are in Stephen Sondheim musicals Sweeney Todd ( Mrs Lovett) , Follies ( Carlotta) and as the song goes “I’m Still Here”! I also enjoy singing jazz and blues.
Zingers has given me the opportunity to sing songs of different genres, to feel the awesomeness of creating wonderful sounds in a group, the friendship of the Zinger family and pride in our achievements.
My grandchildren think I’m “cool” because I can sing current pop songs!
